Ingredients

  • 1 cup ruby port wine

  • 1⁄2 cup apple cider

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 3 Tbsp. Dijon mustard

  • 2 Tbsp. Unsalted butter

  • 2 Tbsp. Sichuan Five Spice Powder

Directions:

  • Combine first five ingredients in a heavy bottomed sauce pot along with the Sichuan Five Spice Powder.

  • Bring the pot to gentle simmer just until the sugar melts and the flavors meld.

  • Brush your ham with a light coating of the glaze and cook following package instructions.

  • Use the mixture liberally to baste the ham in the final 20 minutes of cooking to create the final glaze.

  • Pro tip: add the 1⁄2 cup of drippings from the roasting pan to a mixture of 1⁄2 cup Dijon mustard and 1 cup of mayonnaise to create a spirited sauce.
