San Marzano Tomato Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 (28 ounce) can whole San Marzano tomatoes 

  • ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 large clove garlic, minced about 1Tbsp.

  • 1 tsp. sea salt

  • 1 Tbsp. Mezzogiorno Spice Blend

San Marzano’s are known as the perfect sauce tomatoes, a thick fleshed plum variety both low in seeds and acidity with a full sweet flavor. Grown in the rich volcanic soil surrounding Mount Vesuvius in Campania, Italy, true San Marzano’s are the pride of the region and carry a protected designation of origin. Our no cook sauce is quick and easy to prepare showcasing the fruity sweetness of the tomatoes paired perfectly with our Mezzogiorno Spice Blend. Use it to top homemade pizza or toss it with your favorite pasta.

Directions:

  • Crush the tomatoes with their juices, either by hand or in a food processor.

  • Stir in the olive oil and garlic to combine.

  • Season with salt and Mezzogiorno.
