In 2021, Stella moved to Madison to launch her scientific career. A couple of years later, she received a KitchenAid ice cream bowl for Christmas. Excited to apply her love for research and development to perfecting an ice cream base recipe, Stella began crafting ice cream in her home kitchen. She shared her creations with colleagues, friends, and family. Within a year, demand for Stellie's Ice Cream grew so strong that Stella bought an ice cream bike cart, vending around the Dane County Farmers’ Market on Saturdays. As popularity soared, she opened a storefront on East Washington in June 2025.T
Today, Stella continues to use her original recipe for all the ice cream served at Stellie's. As an artisan ice cream shop, we specialize in handcrafted, small-batch flavors made with high-quality ingredients. We're passionate about creating memorable dessert experiences for every occasion, and we're not afraid to push the flavor envelope. Our mobile ice cream cart still brings premium ice cream to the Farmers' Market each week and is available to cater private events with a delightful selection of classic favorites and unique seasonal flavors that guests of all ages will love.
