How to use Za'atar.

This popular blend of herbs and spices has been used throughout the Mediterranean for centuries. A balanced blend of tart sumac and traditional herbs of the region is found on tables across the Middle East along with salt, pepper, and chiles.

  • Toast or grill crostini, top with olive oil, prosciutto, burrata cheese and a sprinkling of Za'atar

  • Cut pita or flatbread into bite size wedges, coat with olive oil and Za'atar and toast in 375º oven for 15 minutes or until crisp. Serve with hummus and Mediterranean dishes

  • Make a fresh salad of tomatoes, green peppers or cucumbers, feta and lemon-olive oil dressing, topped with a liberal dusting of Za'atar. This would also be delicious with toasted pita (above)

  • Use to season lentil or bean soups

  • Sprinkle Za'atar on popcorn

  • For a quick appetizer, add Za'atar to a dish of good olive oil to serve with crusty French bread, goat cheese, artichokes & olives
