How to use Togarashier.

Togarashier is our interpretation of Shichimi Togarashi or “Seven Spice”: a well-balanced Japanese table seasoning. The spices work in harmony and were first mixed by herbalists in 17th century Edo, modern day Tokyo.

Main Ingredients: chili peppers, ginger, soy sauce, garlic

Serving Suggestions:

  • Toast or grill bread, top with smashed avocado, a liberal drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle Togarashier on top

  • Cook eggs in toasted sesame oil to your liking, then top with Togarashier

  • Stir Togarashier into mayonnaise for a delicious sandwich condiment

  • Make popcorn on the stove top (not microwave), add butter to taste and sprinkle with Togarashier

  • Use simply as a table condiment: on soup, ramen or steamed vegetables

  • Add Togarashier to shrimp scampi for an unexpected zing (see recipe)

  • Make a crust for fish with Togarashier and panko crumbs before searing

  • Sprinkle Togarashier on grilled meats just before serving

  • Make a cabbage slaw with Togarashier and light rice wine vinegar dressing (see recipe)

  • Use on anything you'd like an added pop of flavor
